Mission.

We invest and engage in collaborative disruption to break the cycle of poverty in our community.

The Murry Foundation was founded in 1974 by Emanuel “Manny” Murry in Lancaster, PA.  As a son of an Assembly of God Minister, giving back was part of Manny’s upbringing. As a child, even chores that garnered twenty-five cents in earnings meant Manny had money to help people in need. What started out as a requirement of his father turned into a lifelong practice culminating in starting his foundation in 1974.

The Murry Foundation now operates in both Lancaster, PA and Lexington, KY, and continues the same mission set at its inception - focusing on the critical need of poverty.  Poverty is both specific and broad.  It’s challenging.  There are numerous root causes most of which are hard to address.  The Murry Foundation is prepared to partner with organizations who are ready to work hard and make a difference in creating systemic change.

The Murry Foundation is focused on finding leaders running organizations whose mission directly works towards eliminating poverty.  We view our contributions to organizations as investments.  We aren’t making monetary contributions to just help or provide hope.  We aim for lasting change.   The leadership of the organization will always trump the cause the organization serves.  With great leaders, the organization has a real chance for success.

We see it as our duty to make an impact in the communities we live and work.
